Climate Bully? Al Gore and David Suzuki need Personal Invites to READ This

Just to toot my own environmentally-safe horn, "I told you so! I told you so! I told you so!" I have wanting to do that for years now. (:-) MY PREVIOUS POST is supported by this report!!! According to National Post letter-writer, Don Worrall, Victoria BC, 9029 scientists with PhD's signed this statement in a 2009 petition by the Non-governmental International Panel on Climate Change [NIPCC]..


"There is NO convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate.


Moreover there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environment of Earth."

"The NIPCC traces its roots to a meeting in Milan in 2003 organized by the Science and Environmental Policy Project (SEPP), a nonprofit research and education organization based in Arlington, Virginia. SEPP, in turn, was founded in 1990 by Dr. S. Fred Singer, an atmospheric physicist, and incorporated in 1992 following Dr. Singer's retirement from the University of Virginia.


In April 2008, The Heartland Institute published Dr. Singer's first critique of the IPCC's Fourth Assessment Report. That publication, titled Nature, Not Human Activity, Rules the Climate, listed 24 contributors from 14 countries and included a foreword by Dr. Frederick Seitz, one of the world's most renowned scientists. (Dr. Seitz passed away on March 2, 2008.) It was subtitled "Summary for Policymakers of the Report of the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change."


In June 2009, the first full NIPCC report was published by The Heartland Institute. It is titled Climate Change Reconsidered: The 2009 Report of the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC). The new report, some 880 pages in length, is the most comprehensive critique of the IPCC's positions ever published. It lists 35 contributors and reviewers from 14 countries and presents in an appendix the names of 31,478 American scientists who have signed a petition saying "there is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate."


Now, Mr. S. Dion, aren't you glad you weren't elected leader of a business-stifling, environmental-fear-factor non-scientists coalition of the ignorant? That may be expecting too much as in his political retirement I hear he reads and rereads the  IPCC Report. It is his FAVORITE bedtime story!


It would also be beyond the scope of reason to believe Al Gore or David Suzuki in their SUV's travel the globe to tell the majority report.


Along with them, at least one can imagine, would go a bevy of catastrophic-hungered media like the Toronto Star to get the WHOLE truth this time.


Okay I think I am awake now... it was just a dream. Al Gore would have to give back his ig-Nobel prize, and David Suzuki would have to go back to the Nature of Things, heads hung low with shame and Barrack Obama would have to step down in shame from the presidency of the United States, citing health reasons and wanting to spend more time with his family.....pinch, pinch

Recent revived discussion regarding carbon taxing, and cap and trade arguments seem rather odd considering we are carbon-based life forms and simply by breathing release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Nearby plants which make ALL of our food on earth take in carbon dioxide as an essential ingredient to carbon-based life forms. Certain questions seem to jump out from all this babble.

1. Should we tax penalize larger carbon-based bodies as they are using too much of our valuable earth resources and probably breathe out more carbon dioxide?
2. Should perennial runners who breathe at a much higher rate than average pay a greater per cent of carbon tax?
3. Perhaps quieter more sedentary persons should be given a higher tax refund?
4. If so much human activity results in more CO2, shouldn't plants be thriving as they take it in and give off oxygen as part of the process?
5. Should any country sponsoring the Olympics be charged a tax due to a large increase in CO2 output during the two week period?
6. Would it be more eco-friendly to have CO2 collectors which could compress the gas and use it to fight fires?
7. Should politicians and climate "scientists" be taxed more since they inevitably produce more hot air and CO2 than the average person?
8. When this whole plan is perfected, perhaps it could be code-named Corner Gas?

When we finish studying these very serious considerations, perhaps a little oxygen could be added to the mix by questioning our use of this gas. Some of us use way too much of the essential resource and should have to pay for our overindulgence.

And what about helium? Discussion of this gas would lift the level of the conversation to previously unattainable heights.

Truth or Fiction

Religion of ANY kind is suspect. From evolutionary, atheistic, agnostic to Muslim and Christian...

They are all simply a belief systems....

Evolution is an attempt at science clouded by Evolutionary Religion where it takes giant leaps of faith to believe.

But that does not mean evolution, nor Intelligent Design should be rejected right out of the box. However it seems like many "evolutionary believers" do that.

Hence Ben Stein created his video Expelled which dares to question why well-known and respected men of science be turfed from their jobs simply because they dared to point out where evolutionary belief CAN NOT answer certain questions that ID can?

Because I KNOW about the horrors of Islamists, does not make me reject all Muslims. It seems like the newly-elected mayor of Calgary who called for investigation before making decisions is what ALL politicians should do.

Tarek Fatah is my favorite Muslim writer of the book, The Jew Is Not My Enemy. He has a very balanced view of Islamists and those who step over the line of civility.

Have you ever watched Michael Coren at 6PM on CTS? Or does your agnostic "faith" prevent you from even tuning into a channel created by Christians?

And just because scientists were fooled for 40 years by the fake Piltdown man does not mean I should reject ALL science, does it?

Just because there are fake $20 bills does NOT mean I should reject ALL $20 bills does it?

Just because there are fakers in religion along with the rest of the world full of fakers, does not mean I should reject religion does it?

We can be aware of our own biases enough to think critically about everything we hear or read. We can detect bias in articles and ideas which may or may not be distorting facts.

I don't reject ALL science. I reject SCIENCE which will not even HEAR of anything contradictory which Ben Stein points out has what has become of science in many areas. It has become a religion.Evolutionary and climate science has made the great leap of faith and "evolved" from science into belief.

Does it not strike you as odd that science which is supposed to be about investigating truth so easily rejects ID. That is exactly what many scientists accuse believers of ... rejecting without checking...

So the question is: what makes you KNOW that truth from fiction?

It depends in the final analysis WHO you listen to. And WHO you listen to "indoctrinates" you to believe or not. You may be sucked into believing in declared hoaxes you see on the internet, or are they?

Piltdown man shows that TOO-eager scientists accepted WITHOUT CHECKING EVIDENCE that here was a NEW species of evolutionary man.

One can be TOO eager to accept anything. I try to weigh everything on its merits. Which is why I am still and always will be a follower of Jesus Christ. The historical evidence for him being the son of God is greater than the evidence that there ever was a Julius Caesar. Yet who tries to deny Julius Caesar?

The personal evidence of answered prayers, not always in the way I expect, is the clincher.

Neither Merit Pay nor Collaboration

I have been following the debate about merit pay and especially the unrealistic expectations of schools in B.C. that have cancelled their awards program.

Merit pay sounds nice but will not work. I was in favour of it as a young teacher but maturity brings realism at least to some teachers. Who would judge who deserves merit pay? If it is a principal, then "suck up" to his or her ideas and get merit pay. There is already too much of that in education. If it is fellow teachers, then suck up to each of them and make deals so you get merit pay this year and they will get your vote next year. Also teachers do acquire a disease from time-to-time called, at least by me, "ivory-tower-syndromitis".

This disease has symptoms such as falling for fads like taking phonics out of schools because some teachers merely copied work pages to teach them instead of actually teaching the tool of phonics. I learned to read before school by my parents helping me sound out words on cereal boxes and used that tool my whole life long. More mature teachers fit some phonics in despite the ban and students were the better for it. May I remind teachers about New Math, Cuisenaire blocks, and open classrooms?

Now the fad, which I thought had died out when I retired over 12 years ago of eliminating awards for top achievers in sports and academics is the latest reincarnation of the disease. Life is full of competition. The best teams win their respective cups. The top students get into medical school and get the plum jobs. The best newspaper reporters get jobs at the National Post! [Sorry still a bit of "sucking up" left in me. (:-)] 

Life is full of competition and when teachers try to live in a fantasy world usually inhabited mainly by movie stars that think they know things, they have contracted the deadly disease at its worst. To my fellow teachers who believe these ludicrous notions I say, "Come on out into the real world, the air is fine!" Delusion, illusion or seclusion do not lead to the world in which we live.

Autism Study Dismissed as Fraud

Within the last few years I have heard people afraid to allow their children to be vaccinated against once common childhood diseases as this 1998 study which claimed that the vaccinations caused autism. 


Now once and hopefully for all, this fear-mongering is over as explained in this article from Agence France-Presse with files from Reuters.


The article explains the so-called study was a fraud. No other studies have been able to replicate its results, the studies were drawn from a much too tiny group without a comparative control sample and based on parental recall which has been proven notoriously unreliable the British Medical Journal charged.


Hundreds of thousands of children in Britain are now unshielded against measles, mumps and rubella. Not just in Britain I may add as I first heard people here in North America being afraid to have their children vaccinated as well.


In 2008, measles was declared present in the wider population in the U.K.


I would ask "Why are we so eager to accept new ideas without checking out the scientific truth of them"?


When that happens hundreds if not thousands of lives could be at stake by following poorly researched "news" items which have NOT been proven.

[An interesting side note: most people think that Herod killed thousands of babies. However, Bethlehem was "in the boondocks."  The chances are that less than thirty babies were killed.]

COME OUT OF EGYPT

The Crucifixion narratives in all four Gospels show this prophecy fulfilled.

HATED WITHOUT CAUSE

Psalm 69:4Those who hate me without reason outnumber the hairs of my head; many are my enemies without cause, those who seek to destroy me. I am forced to restore what I did not steal.1000 B.C.

DISCIPLES WOULD SCATTER

Zechariah 13:7"Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is close to me!" declares the LORD Almighty. "Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn my hand against the little ones."500 B.C.

Matthew 26:31 Then Jesus told them, "This very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written: " `I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.'"

These are only a few of the hundreds of prophecies that Yeshua [Jesus] fulfilled. The chances of any one man fulfilling all of these prophecies and others, is so small it is tinier than your chances of winning the big prize in a lottery. 


These prophecies are not nebulous astrological forecasts, but detailed events that no one could guess ahead of time and make happen.


These events are among the many occurrences which indicate that Yeshua, Jesus Christ, was indeed the promised Messiah and son of God.

Charles Lewis: Dear Atheists ..... Similar to My Experiences Here

"Dear atheists: can’t we all just get along or whatever?

Earlier this month I wrote a column for Holy Post about the endless debates between atheists and the religious. I called it: “Dear Atheists: most of us don’t care what you think.” I have been a journalist for close to three decades but nothing I have ever written before came close to the kind of negative reaction that this piece called forth.


Most of the 800 or so responses on the blog were either incredulous or hostile.


One professor wrote on his own blog that I was a “dishonest bigot” and my story “was an appalling piece of dreck.” I wrote back to him to wish him a Merry Christmas; he wrote back to say I was passive aggressive. I also wanted to know why he called me a bigot. We will not be going on holidays together in the near future or ever.


Yet another respondent called the story “linguistic genocide” — an ingenious term that I wish I had come up with myself. Another wrote that he did not put his faith in an invisible god but in “mankind.” I wrote back to ask what part of mankind he puts his faith in: the religious, the non-religious, everyone ….? He did not get back to me.


The thesis of my story was this: that debates between the religious and atheists are useless because most atheists do not understand religion, particularly the idea of religious faith.


[Editor: I have found that they often have a childish idea and understanding of the Judaeo-Christian God. Then they use that perception to argue against "religion"]


I made particular reference to journalist and author Hitchens, who has made millions of dollars off of being a professional atheist. Saying bad things about Hitchens, it turns out, is a very bad thing to do. Apparently he is the only atheist “born without sin.”


It was finally made clear to me that I should no more insult Hitchens than someone should insult the Blessed Virgin Mary or Jesus — something no atheist would ever dream of doing.


One reader called me a coward for not wanting to debate Christopher Hitchens — which is funny because I have never been asked to debate him. And perhaps if I was offered the kind of fees that people like Hitchens receive I might find it in my heart to take part in a debate and ditch my “no-debate” argument. Hitchens recently received $15,000 for a single talk at an American university. Not bad for an hour.


I also went on to say that former British prime minister Tony Blair should not have bothered to debate Hitchens at a recent event in Toronto.


I wrote: “Blair probably should not have even bothered and instead should have gone to mass that night or spent an evening helping out at a shelter or visiting someone who was lonely and sick in a hospital. That would have said a lot more about his faith than wasting a lot of words on a pompous ass whose main intellectual arsenal is sneering and using sarcasm.” [Editor: Even his brother Peter thinks so.] 


I am not a big fan of Blair because he is too wishy-washy and likes to talk about vague issues of faith rather than the tough teachings of his adopted Roman Catholic Church.


I do not like Hitchens’ ideas about religion but I actually have more respect for him than I have for Blair because at least he is not tepid. Hitchens is also one of the great political writers of our time so he is warrior with words.


But when he said during the debate that Pope Benedict believes “condoms are more evil than AIDS” (the Pope said condoms are not the answer to the AIDS crisis, a much different, more subtle statement) and that any charity performed by churches is simply penance for all the evil they have done in the name of faith, I wanted to throw up.


I do support debates about religion in the public square. There are many people who ask, for example, whether religions should get tax breaks — particularly when every press release from certain denominations has to do with global warming or some other political issue. And I think that is completely valid. When a school starts handing out Bibles in the classroom, that must be debated because a line has been crossed.


But faith is different. It is private. It touches on a different reality that either you get or you do not. Faith is like love and how do you debate love? Faith has driven untold millions, billions, of people through history and cannot be dismissed so easily.


I have read Hitchens’ God Is Not Great and I have heard him speak about religion and there is nothing that is reasonable in his argument that can be debated. He believes religion poisons everything. What could I or anyone really say to that?


I am not a bigot. I do not hate anyone except maybe Hitler and Stalin. I do not hate atheists and nor do I hate the chief atheist, St. Christopher. Long may he write and speak.


But when he calls me stupid for my beliefs, when he calls what I hold dear “poison,” then he and other like him have crossed a line into supreme arrogance. They begin to sound exactly like the things they say they hate about religion. And I just have no time for it."
