Predator Drone Seen Hovering over Standard & Poor's Headquarters

Company Could Be in for Downgrade of its Own, Experts Say

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) – Just days after downgrading the credit rating of the United States, Standard & Poor's was on high alert this morning after an unmanned Predator drone was seen hovering over its headquarters in lower Manhattan.


While the mission of the Predator was unclear, some insiders speculated that S & P might be in for a downgrade of its own.

The Predator appeared in the skies above the company's headquarters minutes after it was rumored that S & P was about to downgrade the United States to the same status as Pluto.

As a so-called "dwarf nation," the U.S. would no longer be accorded the same respect as a recognized country like France or Brazil, one S & P source said: "Basically, the United States would be considered a social network with parking."

At the White House, President Obama offered no comment on the Predator's mission, saying only, "The Predator is an effective weapon against the enemies of the United States of America."

He did offer apologies for what he called "an accidental Predator missile strike" over the weekend at a golf course in Virginia which narrowly missed Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA).

In other financial news:

-- In an effort to find a safe haven, rattled investors fled the dollar today and moved their money into Groupons.

-- In one rare bright spot on Wall Street, manufacturers of red ink posted record profits.

-- And finally, Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner explained his decision to remain at the U.S. Treasury: "I didn't want to look for a job – it's fxxxxx scary out there."

In their assessment of Standard & Poor's reasoning, the Democrats are acutely at odds with Standard & Poor's. The credit-rating agency did not call for tax hikes in its assessment. ... But S&P, along with the other credit-rating agencies, has long taken a position on one aspect of our fiscal troubles: entitlement reform. ...

Tea-party leaders, far from being a barrier to entitlement reform, have demanded it. ... The deal that finally did pass would have contained significantly more in deficit-reduction, except for the fact that Democrats categorically refused to consider -- is this sounding familiar? -- entitlement reform, the most important issue. ...


Democrats believe that they have discovered a cartoon villain in the Tea Party, and they are hoping that American voters are gullible enough to be distracted by the political theatrics. The Jihad Against the Armenian, Assyrian, and Greek Christians

In Germany, where Holocaust denial is punishable by up to five years in prison, Stuttgart University recently capitulated to pressure from resident Turkish Muslims and canceled an event entitled, "Persecution, Expulsion and Annihilation of Christians in the Ottoman Empire 1912-1922."

Ironically, this occurred in a country that was forced to confront its own genocidal past, educate its population and pay restitution to victims. University officials explained that they wanted to "remain neutral" on the subject of the nearly 100-year-old, well-documented Turkish massacre of more than two million Christians. Citing neutrality in the face of crimes against humanity is deeply troubling, particularly in light of Germany's Holocaust past and the missed opportunity the event represented to educate students about genocide and potentially prevent its recurrence.

Equally troubling is Turkey's continued denial and banning of information about these crimes, not only within its own borders, but, as exemplified in Germany, within other countries as well. In contrast to Germany where laws since the end of World War II seek to prevent a Holocaust from ever happening again, the Turkish government under Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code, passed in 2005, makes it a crime punishable by up to two years imprisonment to insult the Turkish state. This provision prevents any public commemoration or consideration of the Turkish Muslim atrocities committed against Ottoman Christians. 

This silencing and strong-arming of other nations by a country that is majority Muslim represents Islamization embedded within a national policy of Turkification. Turkey's past aggression, labeled the "Armenian Genocide," follows the Islamization pattern that exists today: annihilation of all non-Muslims, no matter their religion, ethnicity or national origin.

Churches were ransacked and priests beaten and made to march naked as they were massacred. Men were beaten on the soles of their feet until they swelled and burst and their limbs required amputation. The Turks pulled out facial hair, extracted nails, ripped out tongues, applied hot irons to the chests of victims, poured hot butter into their wounds and taunted them about Christ coming to their aid. The Ottoman Turks even reviewed the records of the Spanish Inquisition to come up with ideas for torture.

Some Christians were deported with the idea that they would die en route without food or water. During the journey, they were robbed, whipped, bayoneted and murdered by Muslims who prohibited them from stopping for water. Others were hit with saws, hammers and clubs and left to be devoured by wild animals. 

Christian victims who weren't killed were enslaved in harems, kidnapped and forced to convert to Islam. Surviving women were required to remand their children to the government to be raised as Muslims.

$2.4T LOST in the stock market collapse - the DOW dropping from 12760 to 10810 = 1950 points. As of this writing, today it dropped to 10810, another 330 points - about 1700 points total. I called what I had believed to be the bottom at about 11200. Close but no cigar. However, those who had bought there will be far better off than most of us. Provided the world doesn't descend into hell soon.


$1T in interests costs over the next decade for the $2T Debt Ceiling hike; figuring in the added premiums for the AA debt downgrade.

TOTAL DEBT - $7.6 Trillion plus my personal losses in the market.

Historians will write about this week for a century.

Bush's deficit before the 2007 market crash was $200 Billion. TWO (2%) PERCENT of today's debt!

Just a reminder for perspective. Another thought: What if we had allowed all the banks to fail in 2008? And then redistributed the money, $7.5 trillion we had used to bail out the same banks, Freddie and Fannie that are failing right now? THE LAST TWO DOWNGRADED BY S&P today?
Do you think social security and medicaid be in better shape? You bet! They would be entirely solvent! In other words, the American People would be solvent and the banks that going broke right now would have gone broke four years ago. The first was a WIN-win; the last is a LOSE-lose.

How many jobs does $7.6 trillion represent among, let's say 20 million unemployed - and generously I add in the unemployed from the hypothetical failed banks, GM, AIG and the rest? I would say that every one of the unemployed would be multi-millionaires today, starting new businesses, buying new cars and homes, paying taxes into the US Treasury, spending oodles of money at Bloomingdales and Neiman - Marcus and sipping margaritas on St. Barth beaches with a long-legged blonds on each side helping them buy stocks in the newly-minted American economy.

Check the math and double the unemployed and you'd have 40 million millionaires doing likewise. Just a thought.

Instead, he was placed in the awkward position of lighting the White House barbecues for a slap-up bash with his celebrity pals while the rest of America burned. Stevie Wonder sang Signed, Sealed, Delivered, but he might better have sung Eve of Destruction.

AGB: What does the SnP downgrade really mean? SNP DOWNRATED US DEBT because the politicians didn't agree to raise the debt ceiling timely and as specified by SnP, which also requested an additional demand to be tied to the ceiling raise:

The US must LOWER the existing debt BY FOUR TRILLION DOLLARS.


The Republicans didn't agree to a tax increase, increased income; and didn't agree to increase spending on any programs, social or other. Close, but no cigar. In other words, while this position would limit an increase to the debt provided there were no interest payments, it wasn't enough BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT REDUCE THE DEBT. The debt would still keep increasing.


The Democrats didn't agree to a tax freeze, level income, they wanted to lower the debt by taking the assets of the American citizen who wanted to keep what they earn; and demanded to increase spending on several social programs - not the ones most important to America, which would have negated the tax increase proceeds. THIS WOULD NOT ONLY NOT REDUCE THE DEBT, BUT WOULD DRAMATICALLY INCREASE IT.

In any event, the "DEAL" didn't reduce the debt at all until some debt may be addressed in 2013-14 AFTER Obama runs for a second term. The debt would continue to increase. With the downrating that debt will increase even more because the nation will pay higher interests to service our current debt.


So the two parties were at a stalemate. One has to examine the totality of the problems as detailed above and decide for themselves which party was responsible THE MOST for the credit downgrade from SnP.


Two hints. One cannot spend themselves into prosperity, or borrow themselves out of bankruptcy.

The video revealed that the chip Intel is counting on to recover from a battering by Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) wasn't invented in Silicon Valley. According to the company, the LifeKeeper patch can read information about the wearer's medical state – recording data such as body temperature, heart rate and rhythms, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels. When you wear the patch, the information is transmitted via Bluetooth to a cell phone, where an application records the information. The phone program evaluates the data, and if the information being recorded indicates that that wearer is in danger of a heart attack or stroke, it can send an emergency message out to doctors or emergency services, who can then locate the wearer using the phone's GPS capabilities. Dr. Hanan Ashrawi, member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, reiterated previous statements by Palestinian officials that the US would cease supporting the Palestinian Authority if it refused to enter into direct negotiations with Israel in an interview with London-based Arabic newspaper Al-Quds Al-Arabi published on Saturday.

"They even threatened to isolate the Palestinians and cut off relations," Ashrawi was quoted as saying.
