That brings us to the USA, which is in the exact same situation Japan was in, except we are suffering a household balance sheet recession. And in 2008 our government was convinced by Timothy Geithner, Hank Paulson and Ben Bernanke that if we just saved the banks we would fix the economy.
So we embarked on the "recovery" plan that has led us to one of the weakest recoveries in US economic history. Because of the keen focus on the banking system there is a clear two tier recovery. Wall Street is thriving again and Main Street is still struggling.
Thus far, we have run budget deficits that have been large enough to offset much of the deleveraging of the private sector. And though the spending was poorly targeted it has been persistent enough that we are not repeating the mistakes of Japan – YET. By my estimates the balance sheet recession is likely to persist well into 2013. The EMU and UK are making the mistake of cutting their spending in the midst of a balance sheet recession. Koo believes they are doomed to low growth and potential double dip.
And that rhetoric is now spreading to the USA. QE2 has truly been a "monetary non-event".
As many of us predicted at its onset, this program has shown absolutely no impact on the US money supply (much to the dismay of the hyperinflationists). And now its damaging psychological impact (via rampant speculation) has altered the options available to combat the continuing balance sheet recession. While more stimulus is almost certainly off the table given the Fed's misguided QE2 policy, it would be equally misguided to begin cutting the current budget deficit. Sizable cuts before the end of the balance sheet recession will almost guarantee that the US economy suffers a Japan-like relapse. It's not too late to learn from the mistakes of Japan.
THE FACT THAT GEORGE SOROS IS THE PRINCIPAL SPONSOR OF BRETTON-WOODS, SHOULD NOT BE OF CONCERN.
An excellent video. This is the heart of much of our economic catastrophe. Sovereign governments are sacrificing themselves for private banking institutions. Trillions upon trillions of taxpayer dollars, world-wide, are being transferred to banks that have destroyed themselves many times over with their Enron-style Ponzi schemes and 'creative accounting.' The question is, how long will people stand for it? Soon it will be too late. So far, Iceland is the ONLY country whose people have made the right choice, while Ireland and Greece have made the devastatingly wrong choice -- with Portugal ready to follow suit.

Microsoft Reaches Out to the Muslim Brotherhood
The good news is that Khan's service as a lobbyist means an end to the pretense that he is a "conservative leader" – a vehicle for facilitating his influence operations within the movement. His "Inclusion Coalition" – which was revealed during a panel Khan convened on the margins of the 2011 Conservative Political Action Conference as a vehicle for promoting "inclusion" of such toxic and anti-conservative groups as Louis Farakhan's Nation of Islam and La Raza inside the conservative tent – will hopefully disappear, too. On the Right we have Grover Norquist and his Hamas-connected Palestinian wife.
And on the Left we have:

SO, what do you think?
Lastly, I have this to say:
There is nothing wrong with a gay, drug-mule, economically-ignorant, closet-Muslim bi-racial Kenyan-born US President whose real name none of us really knows.

An ideologue believes that the feasibility of a project derives from his ideology. That is why liberals will argue that wars they don't believe in are unwinnable, but wars they do believe in are winnable.
A stimulus package they disagree with is hopeless, but one that meets their political criteria is the only thing standing between us and the abyss.
Where people are supposed to reality-test, they have an ideology-test. If it passes political muster-- then it must work.
If it doesn't-- then it can't. If a politically approved idea fails, then either it didn't follow the party line closely enough or it was sabotaged.
If a politically disapproved idea succeeds-- then it's a menace and it must be shut down because failure is still imminent.
Think about a country with a 15 trillion dollar debt whose leaders and media insist that everything is going swimmingly.
A government which goes into debt for grandiose projects every year-- and none of them ever amount to anything. A new year and a new trillion dollar budget, packed full of projects that are dead ends. Grand ideas that make the politicians feel good about themselves, but can never work. We beat the Soviet Union-- but these days we look a lot like it. A repressive bureaucracy, an out of touch political class, mounting debt, failing industries and an angry populace caught between government benefits and enforced poverty.
North Korea has been building a 105 story hotel since 1987-- and we still haven't even managed to construct a much smaller replacement for the World Trade Center. But during the Great Depression, New York city and state governments built the Empire State Building in a single year from blueprints that were done in two weeks. Why can't do we do in 2011 what we did in 1931? How is it that 80 years later, with space age technology, computer modeling and instantaneous data access-- we're less competent than our ancestors were?
What changed is our society. We have gone from a pragmatic goal-oriented society to a political society governed by ideology. The emphasis has shifted from the results, to how you get them. 90 percent of the effort is directed at the methodology and 10 percent at actually getting it done. Everything is politicized and nothing is accomplished. A project used to begin with a vision and end with a structure. Today it begins with diversity and ends with a bailout.
We're losing our competence, the same way that the Russians lost theirs. The same way that people living under every ideological tyranny does.
Policy detached from reality is guaranteed failure. Ideological policies are certain to fail in the long run, and ideological tyrannies insulate themselves from knowledge of those failures.
Measuring all success or failure only in light of compliance with the tenets of the ideology makes corrections very hard to apply. How do you fix a problem with broken tools? You can't.
Politicization creates a broken methodology. Ideological methods used to fix problems create more problems-- because the real problem is the ideology.

Microsoft Reaches Out to the Muslim Brotherhood
Posted by Frank Gaffney Apr 7th 2011 at 10:29 am in Economy, Islam, Islamic extremism, News | Comments (74)
Yesterday, Grover Norquist's weekly Americans for Tax Reform conclave was the venue for an announcement by Suhail Khan that he was becoming director for external affairs for Microsoft. Khan's transformation into a corporate lobbyist comes amidst rising concerns in conservative circles about his longstanding family and personal ties to the Muslim Brotherhood (MB or Ikhwan) in America and his positions in favor of such MB priorities as building the Ground Zero mosque, closing Guantanamo Bay, prohibiting "secret evidence," repealing the Patriot Act, dissembling about shariah, etc.
An interesting question is why Microsoft would recruit such an individual at this moment? Perhaps it is seeking to position itself for good relations with the Muslim Brotherhood as that shariah-adherent movement becomes ascendant in the Middle East.
After all, an Egyptian executive of rival Google, Wael Ghonim was seen by some as the face of a hip, secular, democratic new order destined to emerge from the ashes of Mubarak's autocracy. Ghonim, however, has been literally shunted aside by the increasingly emboldened Brothers: On February 18, 2011, he was physically precluded from getting on stage when the Ikhwan's spiritual leader, Yusef al-Qaradawi led a crowd (estimated to have been over a million strong) that had been convened in the revolution's famed Tahrir Square to welcome him home – a la Khomeini's triumphal return to Iran in 1979 –in calls for the "conquest of the al-Aqsa mosque [in Jerusalem]."

At the very least, Microsoft presumably hopes to benefit from the Washington relationships Khan cultivated in the course of his influence operations while working for Rep. Tom Campbell of California (RINO-CA), in the Bush White House Public Liaison Office and Department of Transportation and as chairman of the Norquist-enabled "Conservative Inclusion Coalition."
The good news is that Khan's service as a lobbyist means an end to the pretense that he is a "conservative leader" – a vehicle for facilitating his influence operations within the movement. KUMBAYA Teleprompter Jesus
TELEPROMPTER JESUS
If you've got a problem,
Or even think you might,
Just tell him, and he's on it
He'll make everything all right.
He's the D.C. Santa Claus,
He'll meet every need,
He can stop the polar thaws,
cause the oceans to recede.
(Voter Chorus)
Give us everything we want,
We know you want to please us,
If they type it, you will read it,
You're the Teleprompter Jesus !
Cash For Clunkers, Bailouts,
Porkulus and TARP !
Took G.M. and Chrysler,
and he's still looking sharp !
Geithner and Pelosi,
Biden, Harry Reid,
Gonna work together to get
Everything we need.
(Children's Chorus, groaning under the weight of debt)
Give them everything they want,
But if you want to please us,
Make our parents pay their share,
You're the Teleprompter Jesus !
Nine Trillion, Ten Trillion,
Eleven Trillion debt,
As long as China's lending,
Then he ain't finished yet.
Spending all this money,
It's really not so hard,
When he puts the charges on
our childrens' credit card.
(Groaning Chorus of Debtor-Fetuses)
Give them just a little less,
We know you want to please us,
Don't read everything they type,
Dear Teleprompter Jesus !
Jesus fed five thousand
With some fishes and some bread,
Our Man could print a trillion bucks
With one nod of his head.
Gonna spread the wealth around
At least that's the plan,
It won't cost you a penny,
You don't make two-fifty grand.
(Final Chorus, repeat and fade)
Give us everything we want,
We know you want to please us,
