The members of the left condemning Beck most loudly, to my utter dismay, have been Jews. Jon Liebowitz, aka Jon Stewart, has dedicated his show to mocking Beck as a religious freak and a nut job; in his episode on Beck's departure from his Fox News show, Stewart donned Beck-like glasses and then scoffed, "Glenn Beck was sent here by Jesus to take the 5:00 p.m. slot between Neil Cavuto and Shepard Smith for 27 months."

Rob Eshman of the atrocious Los Angeles Jewish Journal said that Beck's expose of self-hating Jew and anti-Israel fanatic George Soros was "the verbal equivalent of a Der Sturmer cartoon." Abe Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League, which spends far less time targeting radical Muslims who want to murder Jews than commentators who love Israel, condemned that same Beck vs. Soros episode as "completely inappropriate, offensive, and over the top." The Jewish Funds for Justice, a far-left Jewish organization, ran a full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal taking on Beck.
Let me say this: I stand with Glenn Beck, and against these (frequently misguided and self-destructive) Jews and their organizations. Glenn Beck is a friend of Israel. He is a friend of the Jewish people. And anyone who argues otherwise is either lying or ignorant.
Beck possesses a moral clarity with regard to the Jewish State that has no equivalent in the leftist Jewish community. He recognizes that Israel's conflict with the Palestinians is not a conflict over land or over population exchange, but over fundamental values.

THERE'S NO CAUSE FOR CONCERN
These are not incidents of ordinary crime involving nominal Muslims killing for money or some other non-religious motive. We only include incidents of deadly violence that can reasonably be determined to have been committed out of religious duty - as interpreted by the perpetrator.
We usually list only attacks that result in loss of life (with a handful of exceptions). In several cases, the victims are undercounted because deaths from trauma caused by the Islamists may occur in later days, despite the best efforts of medical personnel to keep the victims alive.
We usually don't include incidents related to combat, such as in Iraq and Afghanistan, unless it involves particularly heinous terror tactics. Unprovoked sniper or bombing attacks on foreign military personnel serving normal police duties are sometimes included depending on the circumstances (although rarely).
Unfortunately, this list of Muslim terrorist attacks barely scratches the surface of atrocities committed in the name of Islam occurring world-wide each day. For that reason, we don't tally up the dead and dismembered, except on a weekly and monthly basis.
As an example, most news articles on the violence in Southern Thailand note that about 900 people were killed in 2005. We estimate that 150 of these deaths are of the Islamic militants themselves, which means they killed some 750 people that year. But TROP only recorded the deaths of 314. We underreported more than half the casualties in a country with a decent news infrastructure. Imagine what we don't catch in the Sudan, where the overall toll has run into the hundreds of thousands!

U.S. House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, reacted to the news of Standard & Poor's downgrade of the U.S.'s credit rating on Friday night, saying, "This decision by S&P is the latest consequence of the out-of-control spending that has taken place in Washington for decades." He added that "the spending binge has resulted in job-destroying economic uncertainty and now threatens to send destructive ripple effects across our credit markets."

For the rest of his first term, the president has taken his opponents' biggest weapon away from themSo the Republicans, if they keep insisting on no tax increases whatsoever, will soon be faced with having to cut defence.
The Tea Partiers will be lined up against the neoconservatives in a way almost designed to split the party. They've never had to make that choice so baldly before.
Let's assume the committee fails, and the Pentagon and healthcare for the elderly take the hit. Obama can easily blame the Republicans for both, because of their insistence on no new taxes.
Remember that Obama wants spending cuts anyway. This way, he can duck much of the blame.
And taxes? George W Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy are due to expire in December 2012 anyway. Unless the Republicans win both houses of Congress and the presidency next year, a return to Clinton-era tax rates will bring in $4 trillion over the decade. I'd say it's win-win for the president, neutral for the Democrats and a strategic debacle for the Republicans.

OMAHA, Neb. -- Warren Buffett's company said Friday its second-quarter profit jumped 74 percent because the value of its derivative contracts increased and several of its non-insurance businesses improved.
Berkshire Hathaway's quarterly results were also aided by a one-time gain of $1.25 billion from Goldman Sachs' repayment of an investment Buffett's company made at the height of the financial crisis in 2008.
